Prone Bicycle

I just discovered a prone bike on the web reading this guy's blog, called a One Off Handcycle!! And was impressed although I don't think my ass would work too well against that kind of backstop, so I thought I'd make one that I'd be totally flat out but instead of a recumbent. I wanna be prone.

Here's another cool site about recumbents and some neat stuff on fairings and molding plastic.

Step one. Find a donor bike, or several. People are lazier than ever and can't even haul their free junk out to the sidewalk anymore, you gotta patrol their back yards and everything. Oh btw there's a lot of lunatics out there so best to pick up the freebies at night. Some crazy woman chased me three blocks on her broomstick to thank me for hauling this one away! People really should reserve their gratitude for those who truly deserve it; Marines, astronauts, Captain Lou Albano, etc…

I really like my porta-band. It's getting a lot of use since I can't get to my bigger band saws. Too much stuff in the shed.

I like the look of these forks and think I can use them for the frame.

Below I chopped the forks and welded them to the rear triangle.

I had some hubs from bikepartsusa and got some slightly shorter spokes, also heavier 12 gauge spokes. Before you tear a wheel apart, make plenty of notes cause I'm not gonna show you how to build a wheel.

Got these nice Araya aluminum rims from another donor bike…
