Hmmm, this begs explanation. The cracks looked like something I didn't wanna deal with, so I think I have a better solution.

 

 

Below you can see the mast step through the fiberglass. Not good.

 

In the pic below you can see there is no "lip" for the mast to sit on along the whole right (what was the rear) curved part of the mast step. You can also see in the upper right quadrant straight through the glass. Someone must've patched it before with some weird stuff that looks like bread dough. Tough stuff, but unacceptable.

That whole risen bit around the hatch is not going back on and the deck will be even flatter than it was, the sliding hatch will then be hinged. The mast support will then no longer be buried in the glass but open in the cabin and the mast step will be about 3" lower on a much flatter deck.

Also just picked up 5 sheets of marine ply today, need more West and cloth, and evidently another mast step.
